Hunkeler eases digital print finishing inspection with WI8 Web Inspection System
Paper processing specialist Hunkeler has announced the launch of the WI8 Web Inspection System, the latest edition of its tool designed to assist with demanding inspection tasks in digital print finishing lines.
Available in the UK via Friedheim International, the leading supplier of print finishing equipment, the new WI8 Web Inspection System has been updated to run with all of Hunkeler’s Generation 8 finishing equipment
The WI8 system performs quality control and content verification of print on every page, including colours, feature position, contours, smearing, missing jets or data validation. Each of the controls has independent tolerance settings that the user can adjust and optimise to the production quality required.
The system features the latest CIS Scanner technology, which, as well as being easy to use, enables the capture of high quality image capture. The underlying inspection software has also been updated and optimised, making all inspection functionality accessible via an intuitive user interface.
Users will also benefit from a mechanical mounting module, which contains the scanners (simplex or duplex), a multi-touch screen for the user interface and an external controller box. These modules can be directly integrated into a printing press or one of Hunkeler’s finishing modules, or run stand-alone independently.
The WI8 system can also be combined with Hunkeler’s Tracking solution to offer additional benefits to users. These include automatic live tracking of the ongoing production, as well as serving as a modular solution that can monitor complex inspection and tracking tasks.
Other combination benefits are protection from operators and machine errors by detecting and storing any document or production integrity exception into its database, as well as the ability to drive each document to the assigned destination, rejecting any item with faults, flaws or exceptions.
In addition, when combined with the Tracking solution, the WI8 can stop production and avoid producing non-compliant material, return tracked production results, and provide a wide range of production-oriented reports and statistics.
