Kent-based high quality cartons and greeting cards printer Offset Print and Packaging Ltd has committed to a double post press finishing investment as part of an effort to increase output quality and reduce make ready times.
Offset Print and Packaging has purchased a new Omega Allpro 145 folder gluer from the Duran Machinery division of Koenig & Bauer, as well as an Inpress 144 K cut and crease device from Koeing & Bauer Iberica.
The Omega Allpro 145 – purchased through Friedheim International, which supplies Duran’s specialist folder gluers in the UK – has a maximum belt speed of 300m/min and is suitable for working on carton board ranging from 200gsm to 600gsm.
The company’s new Omega Allpro 145 will include a number of time and efficiency features, as well as improved quality control systems. These include a side register unit for enhanced control of carton blanks, which in turn allows for precise squaring before it enters the folding section.
Other stand-out features on the Omega Allpro 145 include a top-driven final fold section, offering the user improved control and quality of corrugated boxes, as well as a pneumatic squaring system for micro flute crash lock boxes – boosting quality and cutting waste.
In addition, for high-speed crash lock carton folding production without hooks, the Omega Allpro 145 boasts an innovative Airfold system for easier set-up and a servo backfold system for four and six corner box capability.
“The Omega Allpro 145 from Duran offers a highly productive solution to users, with the ability to run at speeds of up to 300m/min,” said John Harrison, sales manager at Friedheim International.
“The fact that the machine can handle not only the lighter substrates, but carton board up to 600gsm and corrugated up to 6.5mm means Offset Print and Packaging will be able to produce a whole range of work on their new folder gluer.”
Running alongside the new Omega Allpro 145 will be an Ipress 144 K, which offers the company both stripping and blanking capabilities. The device, due for delivery in March, has a maximum speed of 7,500 sheets per hour with 600 tonnes of punching pressure.
