Sam Neal, managing director of the Geoff Neal Group, says: “One of our existing folders was beginning to show its age, and we realised the time had come to invest in something new that would complement and improve our existing operation.
“We already have a MBO folder, which has proved its worth by its build quality, reliability and performance, so it became a decision of which model to choose that best suited our current and future requirements. The T800 proved to be the one!”
A family-run business since its formation nearly 40 years ago the company is currently undergoing a re-branding process, with a name change from Geoff Neal Litho to the Geoff Neal Group. The company offers a full service of design, artwork and printing, as well as a range of finishing activities, and has a reputation for producing “interesting quality work” according to Sam Neal.
He says: “We pride ourselves on being able to solve the ‘problem’ jobs that others cannot deal with, very often by being quite ‘creative’ in the way we approach the task! We’re willing to tackle ‘anything and everything’ from small quantities through to major run lengths, which highlights our great flexibility of operation.”
The Geoff Neal Group’s client base ranges from financial institutions, PR and technology companies, and the art world to name but a few, with jobs undertaken varying from direct mail to brochures to fine art books. As a result of this non-dependence on a single area or sector of expertise the company experiences very few ‘peaks and troughs’ in its annual production cycle.
“Since its installation the MBO T800 folder has been working very well and justified the purchasing decision,” says bindery and transport manager Andy Murgatroyd. “The new folder gives our operators more opportunities to check a job as it is being processed, and this helps both with quality and finalisation. They are still getting used to some of the new technology incorporated within the machine, as well as all of the numerous folding combinations that the MBO is capable of handling, so it still has a lot more to offer us in the future.
“By including the Palamides delivery system as part of the install this is providing great presentation benefits in terms of the quality of the stacking and banding of the folded job, as well as the increased speed in which the whole process is completed.”
Both the MBO T800.1/64 Perfection buckle folding machine and Palamides Delta 703 automatic mobile delivery system were supplied to the Geoff Neal Group by UK & Ireland agent Friedheim International.
