Tecnograf is a specialist supplier of complementary equipment for a wide variety of bindery operations, especially where soft and hard cover book production is involved. Represented exclusively in the UK and Ireland by Friedheim International, in more detail the equipment supplied by Tecnograf includes the following machines:
ANT 250 and ANT 500 – these are compact, combination PUR/hot-melt semi-automatic one-clamp perfect binding machines that are ideal for short and medium runs. The new ANT 250 is completely controlled by PLC and is equipped with an innovative PUR/hot-melt gluing system. In addition, the ANT 500 is equipped with an automatic cover feeder and automatic book delivery. The new technology and the special design on both machines ensure maximum safety for the operator and the highest binding quality.
Easy Tower and Tower Plus – these two machines are casing-in lines that are compact, strong and easy to use. Both are equipped with an automatic cover feeder, a semi-automatic book block feeder (a fully automatic option is available on request), and an universal spine forming station for round and square back books. The gluing system is conventional: two rollers apply the (cold) glue on the end papers when the book is lifted in the tower. It is possible to equip the Tower Plus version with an industrial roller design adapted for hot-melt application. The book case is automatically positioned in the hopper feeder and then automatically transferred to the register position with the book block. Once the casing-in operation is done, the blade (three blades in Tower Plus) delivers the book sidewise on a conveyor, from where it is transferred to the pressing unit.
High speed casing-in lines CT60, CT100 and CT150 – these three machines are high performance systems for the casing-in of thin books, CD trays, pop-up books and similar type products that are difficult to handle using a traditional casing-in machine with blades. The CT60 can produce square back books with a thickness ranging from 1-25 mm at a maximum speed of 60 cycles per minute. Both the CT100 and CT150 can be equipped with a special kit for handling books with flexible cases (such as integral cases) and padded cases, etc. With the special kit fitted to these two machines this enables the glue to be applied directly onto the case and not onto the end sheet of the book block as on traditional lines.
Coat 400 – is a semi-automatic jacketing machine ideal for small runs, and can accept open jackets up to 1000 mm in width. Operation is simple: the operator places the book with open covers on the book in-feed station. The feeding of jackets, scoring and pre-folding of flaps is done automatically.
Easy Cut – is a simple, but highly efficient corner cutter. It is equipped with two cutting devices so that it is possible to cut two corners of cover materials at the same time. Adjustment of the machine for the various sizes is done manually and very quickly by means of a hand-wheel and one locking lever. The cut depth (the size of the triangular trim) can be adjusted by moving the lateral guides.
Easy Round – is an automatic rounding and backing machine. Available as a free-standing version, or optionally as an in-line solution with the Tower casing-in line, the machine achieves rounding and backing for all kinds of books, together with the quality of modern industrial book binding.
Easy Band – this machine is a flexible and compact unit for the application of a head and tail band on round and square book blocks. Extremely easy to use, this machine is the perfect solution for both small and medium sized book binding companies. The head/tail band is joined to the glue strip before being applied to the book spine. One particular feature of this machine is that, due to its working concept, it does not require cleaning at the end of production.
Modular – is a semi-automatic cartoning machine with a simple operation for handling both hard and soft cover books. Cartons are placed by the operator on pile(s) of books arriving from a casing-in line: the closing of flaps on both sides and sealing with adhesive tape or hot-melt glue (optional) is carried out fully automatically.
Tecnograf also manufactures a special Stacker unit that allows hard cover books coming from the Tower casing-in line to be piled up in a tidy and easily accessible way. This enables the operator to organise his job more efficiently, thereby saving time and increasing production.
