NEW from palamides, the gamma - entry level stacking and delivery unit
Stacking and strapping specialist Palamides have developed a completely new machine for the smaller, more cost-effective market – The new Palamides Gamma. Distributed in the UK and Ireland by Friedheim International, the Gamma is the perfect middle ground for those looking for a more cost effective delivery unit.
The Gama automatic delivery provides a higher productivity at lower personnel costs, ensuring easy to handle bundles from the folders or saddle stitchers. Whether folding products, greeting cards, brochures or mailings - the Gamma can be set up in a few simple steps and in no time at all and fits perfectly into the landscape of digital finishing and rapidly changing productions!
Jan Oldenkott, Palamides’ International Sales and Marketing manager gets technical on the new Gamma. “The Gama comes in two configurations, with infeed width of 140-510mm or 140-220mm. At speeds of up to 1200 bundles/hour but can either automatically band using paper or transparent PE bands on the stacks or can leave the stacks free, something that the Delta cannot do. With it’s remarkably small footprint the Gama is perfect for companies with little room on their factory floors but has the tried and tested Palamides quality components known throughout the industry.”
“All delivered products are measured by the Gamma. Any item not within the tolerance range is automatically ejected and not counted. If more than 3 products in a row are not within the tolerance range, the Gamma stops the production; this enables it to quickly detect whether there is a folding problem, for example. The Gamma thus prevents a large part of the print run from being folded.”
“In two-up production, the products are slightly spread, measured and properly pressed in the pressing station. Wide conveyor belts take over the products and forward them to the collecting chutes. Single sheets - thickness or very sensitive products are removed individually from the press to ensure extremely gentle production with little marking. Shingle stream - if high production speed is needed with over 10,000 pieces /h, the products are shingled after the press.”
“The operator can enter the desired quantity via a touch display and can decide whether the stacks should be banded or not. The counted stacks (banded or loose) are buffered on the output table and can be conveniently removed by the operator at an ergonomically favorable height.”
The products that are best used for the Gama are; signatures, flyers, brochures, mailings, rotationally products and selfmailers. Stuart Bamford, Friedheim’s National Sales manager for Post-Press solutions says, “thanks to its clever design, the Gamma 502 is a small, agile and fully automated delivery that can be set up in just a few minutes. The delivery is mobile and height-adjustable at the product infeed. The delivery can be rolled from folding machine to booklet production in a flash. When space is limited, the spacious buffer table is simply raised to fold away.”
