Herzog + Heymann, specialist in custom folding machines and a member of the MBO Group, is holding an Open House in Bielefeld from September 19 - 22, 2018 where Friedheim International will be escorting key customers to the event. Visitors will get the chance to see six lines from the market segments of pharmaceutical folding, mailing, matching, dispensing, packaging and fulfilment.
Herzog + Heymann - Double layer line for the production of greetings cards and booklets
One of the six innovative lines will be producing business cards where the special feature is that an extreme landscape format will be processed. The printed sheet, accommodating five business cards, is 320 mm wide but just 85 mm high. Via an additional tape guide, opposite the operator side, the sheet is conveyed safely into the cutting unit. This guarantees stable and safe transport of the sheet.
On another is the double layer line from Herzog+Heymann, used to produce greetings cards. These consist of an outer and an inner card, each with a different grammage. To be able to assemble both cards together, Herzog+Heymann has developed a special technique.
Jannik Müller, Product Manager at Herzog+Heymann, explains the concept: "We have developed two continuous feeders that we have simply positioned one on top of the other. This saves valuable space in the production environment and avoids having to invest in a larger format printing press but more importantly users can expand their range of offerings with our double layer line and open up whole new markets." Both cards are centred to an accuracy of ± 0.5 mm and then glued together along the back spine. A cold gluing system from the firm Baumer HHS is used for the gluing process. The double layer line is not only suitable for greeting card production, but other application options that include booklets and operating manuals.
No Herzog Heymann Open House will be complete without their market leading mailing line. It can place a wide range of product samples into the mailing system. Another high point will be the pharmaceutical line with 24 buckle plates. For the first time, Herzog+Heymann have equipped a line with the ergonomic slitter shaft cassette, for which the MBO Group holds a patent.
Stuart Bamford, National Sales Manager Post-Press solutions for Friedheim finishes by stating,” these live demonstrations will impress professionals with the efficiency of the finishing lines and the innovations on improving production. Herzog+Heymann is proud of having found strong partners whose solutions are integrated into some of the exhibited lines.”
