Automatic delivery systems for folders and saddle-stitchers

Palamides

Higher productivity, together with lower personnel costs, can result from using Automatic Stacker Delivery systems manufactured by Palamides and supplied exclusively in the UK and Ireland by Friedheim International.  The systems can be used with a range of different machines including folders, saddle-stitchers, mailers, thread sealers, plow folders and digital printers, as well as web offset finishing lines, and their solid and easy to handle bundled stacks guarantee effective transfer to subsequent machinery in the production process.  Palamides Delta 500Ideal uses for the systems
include the production of advertising material, mailings and signatures, and their all-round ability, together with short set-up times, ensures extremely high levels of usage.  Furthermore, the stack quality throughout the job is consistently high!

There are two different models in the Palamides range.  The alpha-plus (500 and 700) has been designed as a universal delivery for processing folded leaflets and spine-stitched brochures, and was developed as a result of experiences and problems exposed with existing delivery systems (vertical stackers).  The new design was formulated to improve quality and increase performance.

Palamides OutputThe alpha-plus operates by collecting and stacking the products and then delivering the neatly jogged stack onto a buffer table.  The operator no longer has to knock-up the stack, he just removes the jogged stack from the ergonomically positioned delivery table.  Furthermore, the alpha-plus can deliver without marking, ie, no smudging of freshly printed products, and its capacity can be fully utilised, even after many hours of production, without tiring the operator!

In order to reduce setting-up times, in most instances the machine can set itself up automatically.  In addition, in order to considerably simplify the cleaning of the pressing rollers, as well as aiding the removal of double sheets, the pressing unit can be opened by pressing a button.  And as with all Palamides delivery systems, the alpha-plus can identify waste sheets and eject them automatically.

The other fully automatic system offered by Palamides is the delta (502, 703, 705 and 1005), where rationalisation and the more cost-effective use of personnel is the key.  As a result, a folding machine need not be operated by two or three persons, but only one, and on saddle-stitchers the removal of the stack can be carried out cost-effectively again by a single operator, even with 2-up or 3-up production and running at full capacity!  Handling the banded packages is quick and easy, with the band merely serving as a means of depositing the products quickly, simply and efficiently!

The delta sets new standards for speed, format range and user-friendliness.  With its running speed of 600 packages per hour per product stream, the delta outperforms all previous machines!  Trouble-free sealing of the band is ensured with the inclusion of the sturdy and reliable electronic impulse welding system (EIS).  Bundling is only carried out in the shaft in which the products are collected.  This patented process ensures that even products which either spread out at the binding edge, are slippery or uneven can be processed neatly.
